My Story Idea... Tell me what you think. :)

There was a hush on the moor at morning. The dusky hedges and dew-kissed grasses covered the ground in a frosty blanket, and a thick fog hid most of the area from view. A soft light from the rising sun peeked through a haze of sky, but just enough darkness remained of the night to place the moor in a serene, ethereal mood.

I stepped into the damp grasses in my high boots, and soaked in the fragrance of the heather. The boots did well to keep out the dampness of the grass from soaking through, but my windbreaker could not entirely keep the cold from tickling my skin, and coloring up my face into a healthy glow. My nose went numb a little as I slowly walked forward through the tall grass and circled a few stalwart thistle stems that poked my sides. There was an eerie feeling to the area, as if the whole place was not wholly happy to have me invade the quiet, and touch the wet and rough grass with my foreign hands.

I too felt a little like I had slightly invaded a sacred fairy haven, and that in some way my presence here would invoke a response from the little people. But my curiosity drew me on, and as the mists enveloped my body and I could no longer see ahead of me, I became transfixed by the white wall of fog, and kept moving forward until the sun broke through and the fog began to lift a little to allow me sight of my surroundings.

Did I know that this was indeed a fairy haven? Did I know that my presence had indeed invoked a response? I did not sense the change around me in the thickness of the mist, until the sound of gentle hoofs on the grass broke the stillness, and a view that took my breath away pressed and stopped before me.

A man wearing a full outfit of armour and mounted on a white horse stopped before me. His helmet covered his face completely, and the white feathers on it moved a little from a soft breeze. The metal of the armour clinked a little as he stopped, and in his right hand he held a tall spear at the top of which a flag of dark blue and gold sparkled from a few peeking rays of sun against the semi-dark sky.

The fog still enveloped us, but my presence was not hid from him, and I stood there spellbound as I heard his deep voice tingle my skin a little as he spoke.

"Greetings, fair maiden. For what reason art thou out in the moor this cold morning alone?"

I could not speak. I thought for sure this must either be a vision and I had gone mad, or a trick of the moor, or perhaps just some random person in masquerade.

The knight spoke again, and the rumble of his gentle voice pulled me closer to the present. "Art thou well? I did not wish to frighten thee. Only thy presence surprised and concerned me in the moor this time of day."

"Um.. sorry. Yah - I'm fine. I mean, I'm ok. Um... sorry, who are you?" I stuttered.

I could hear a little laugh erupt from his throat. I suddenly had this irrational feeling that I would like to make him laugh like that again.
