Georgina Finds Herself - Book Review

Image
Howdy-Doody Everybody!   Here is the book review for today and I hope you all enjoy it! :) I have come to appreciate this book and I hope you do too if you read it. Chao.....   "She was not able to explain exactly where the difference between her and them lay; but she simply knew by instinct that she could not get along with the majority of them very well. She was as capable of enjoying a spontaneous, simple good time as any girl of her age, but such good times were not the sort that were relished by the strangely mature, restless, sophisticated young sub-debutantes of Melbrook. Young as they were, they were already women in many ways - worldly women, greedy of admiration, competitive, thinking principally of the clothes they were to wear, and the attention they could win. Georgina had no keen desire either for their uncertain friendship or their easily excited, flippant, biting criticism." (Page 88-89, Chapter 6.) This little paragraph here is from the book ...

Theology Notes for the Day..... God's Eternality

Image
Hey Everybody! I am going to start posting some of the notes/thoughts based on the speech cards I wrote while I was in Apologetics. I may add in my personal thoughts and open it up for discussion. I think it would be good for refreshing my memory, and creating a round table for honest talk. Today's message is on God's Eternality. If you want to discuss this subject, please feel free to by posting comments either below or on this post on Google +. Thanks! God's Eternality   "I AM THAT I AM." These words were spoken by God to Moses in the desert when Moses asked God what he should say to the Pharoh of Egypt. With those simple words, God was telling Moses and all of the world that He was everything. The first word and the last word. Psalm 90:2 says that, "Befo...

Shackles and Chains

Hello Everybody, Oh what a beautiful morning! Oh what a beautiful day! Just listened to the song from "Oklahoma" the movie. Something about today makes me want to address something God has been teaching me in my life right now. "Let go of your concerns. Then you will know that I am God. I rule the nations. I rule the earth." Psalm 46:10 I have been really sober minded and serious lately. Not that that is bad - but I feel that all of the things in my life that have been constantly on my mind in a negative way weigh me down. We are told in scripture (Psalm 46:10, Job 12:10, Philippians 4:6) to give all of our concerns to God and focus on him without being anxious about anything. You know, let go and let God. But often times when I am burdened with something and I lay it on the alter, when it comes up again I immediately run back to the alter and take back the burden I put there. It's pretty much like Indian-giving what I put In God's hands. I don...

Ice Cream and Oleg Cassini

Image
Hello Dear Friends, Just a note for the girls out there who get this: (You all will.) Some of you guys who decide to read this post will probably not relate to this at all (unless you have sisters and understand. :) ) I came home after the kid's choir a little worn for the wear, but mainly in a good mood. Everyone ate a bake it-no-questions-asked dinner and then dispersed to quietly sit the evening out with what peace our ten member family could maintain. I grabbed a box of ice cream out of the fridge, and scooped a generous portion into my bowl. Don't laugh! You know you all do this! Grabbing my tall stack of library books I headed to sit the night out on my bed and flip through endless pictures of beautiful actresses from a bygone era wearing Oleg Cassini gowns. (Including our beloved Grace Kelly! Who by-the-way almost married Oleg before she found her prince!) I know that this picture looks pretty pathetic to you, even though every girl does this regularly. And ...

Challenging Q's for the Busy Girl---

Gardening Day! I took the kiddos out and we weeded the front and back yard, raked up leaves and pinecones, and generally made our yard look resemble something decent. :) (If only I had a powerful hose I could hose down everything and call it good. lol) Anyhow- Here is a challenge for those of you ladies out there with maybe some opinions to share with the rest of us. (smile) Just answer these questions in the box below and give us your ideas and opinions. I would love to find out! Challenging Q's for the Busy Girl:       1. When you get up in the morning, what is the first vain thing you do and why?   2. If you had to decide between a toothbrush, or a stick of deodorant to use before you leave the house in the morning, wish would you choose?   3. As a busy single girl, you have many duties. Of all the chores in the house you have to do - which is the most enjoyable , (yes I...
